WWE Women Recruits To Report Soon

With the Mae Young Classic Tournament coming up soon, a new class of women competitors is expected to report to the WWE Performance Center very soon for training. The WWE announced that the women’s tournament is set to take place over two days (much like the UK Title Tournament) at Full Sail University in Florida on July 13 and 14. The tournament will feature 32 women wrestlers.
As the Mae Young classic draws closer, more names are being thrown around as potential participants. Names like Kairi Hojo from Japan, Evie from New Zealand, WCPW Women’s champion Nixon Newell from the U.K. and Demi Bennett, from Australia are rumored to be signed. Dudley Academy graduate Kennadi Brink is also said to have signed on but in a referee role. Interestingly, it is being reported that Japanese star Io Shirai is signed to start with the WWE but won’t be taking part in the tournament itself. However, since the WWE hasn’t announced officially who will be the 32 participants (or any backup competitors as was the case for the Cruiserweight Classic) it can really only be considered a rumor at this point.
As for the plans for after the tournament, the though is that the talent will be spread across the three brands and that a women’s only type show on the WWE network is not expected to happen.
