SD Star Returns, Cornette on Rousey’s Tweets, NJPW Star Arrested

Although most fans are excited to see Kofi Kingston finally begin competing for the WWE Championship, his recent main event push came at the expense of Mustafa Ali. Kingston took Ali’s spot in the Elimination Chamber match after Ali received an injury, but it looks like the former cruiserweight has returned to action. Fans in attendance noted that Ali came back suddenly during a WWE live event in Minneapolis, Minnesota over the weekend. Ali made his return in a big way as he took on WWE Champion Daniel Bryan in his first match in weeks. Despite his best efforts, Bryan was able to defeat Ali during the show. Hopefully, this developments means that Ali will be able to return to television soon.

Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch have had their fair share of hostile interactions on Twitter over the past few weeks. However, their battle throughout this past week garnered even more attention than usual. Legendary manager Jim Cornette has his own opinions on the matter, specifically when it comes to Rousey’s usage of social media. Cornette chastised wrestlers who remind fans that what they are watching is scripted. This is likely in reference to Rousey using Lynch’s real name in one tweet and talking about how she wants to attack her despite what “the script” says. Cornette is a big proponent for keeping kayfabe alive in the industry. Meanwhile, Rousey is said to be facing both Lynch and Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 35 in April.

I hate it when the people I’ve really been enjoying have to remind us it’s all fake when trying to be real. Guess I’ll go back to watching Curse of Oak Island, at least there really is SOMETHING down there. https://t.co/XKmqG5WYut

It has just been reported that New Japan Pro Wrestling competitor Koji Kanemoto has been arrested. The news was first broken by Yahoo! Japan, who said that Kanemoto was taken into custody following a domestic altercation with his wife. Kanemoto’s wife reportedly began searching through his phone because she believes that he has been having an extramarital affair. This led to the alleged incident taking place. Kanemoto has since been charged with assault as a result of the matter. Afterwards, Tokyo Sports posted transcripts of Kanemoto’s talks with the Ikuta police. The following comes from the New Japan wrestler himself, and it has been roughly translated to English courtesy of Fightful:
“I am certain that I had violence against my wife. I was suspected of cheating because she went through my cell phone without permission. It was a flat-[handed] and one-shot hit.”
