Sasha Banks Injured, Tony Shiavone at NWA 70, Lesnar/Crown Jewel

It was announced earlier this week that Alexa Bliss had been pulled from WWE’s Mixed Match Challenge series and was being replaced by Ember Moon. An injury to Bliss prevented her from teaming up with Braun Strowman this past Tuesday night, and unfortunately, another competitor has dropped out of the show due to an injury. PWInsider reported and WWE confirmed earlier today that Raw Superstar Sasha Banks is injured at the moment, but details on the injury and Banks’ status for the Evolution pay-per-view remain scarce. As for the Mixed Match Challenge, Banks will now be replaced by Raw’s Mickie James, who will be teaming up with Bobby Lashley on a future episode of the show on Facebook Watch.

Tony Schiavone was there to announce some of the most pivotal moments in WCW’s history, and he continues to announce for pro wrestling today in MLW. However, it was announced recently that Schiavone will be appearing for the NWA to do commentary for a very special match. NWA will be celebrating its 70th anniversary next month, and the promotion is working hard to ensure that the event will be a memorable one. Case in point, the huge main event rematch between Nick Aldis and Cody Rhodes for the NWA Heavyweight Championship will now have Schiavone right there to call the action. NWA also thanked MLW for allowing Tony to appear at the show. The historic NWA 70 event will be taking place on October 21st of this year.

When Brock Lesnar lost the Universal Championship to Roman Reigns at SummerSlam earlier this year, the belief was that “The Beast Incarnate” would be taking a hiatus from wrestling in order to resume training for an MMA comeback. It was certainly surprising to see him reemerge at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view earlier this month. In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE approached Lesnar with offers to appear at Crown Jewel during the week of SummerSlam. The relationship between WWE and UFC is said to be positive right now, so the MMA company did not prevent Lesnar from accepting any further WWE commitments. Lesnar is said to be signing short-term contracts with both companies, and he will reportedly be earning at least seven figures for his match at Crown Jewel on November 2nd.
