Police ID Victims In Houston Warehouse Shooting

MISSOURI CITY, TX — A woman died in a gun battle with police after she walked into a food distribution warehouse and shot the overnight manager to death Monday morning and wounded another employee, according to the Missouri City Police.

Kristine Peralez, who was employed at the Ben E. Keith Food Distribution Warehouse in Missouri City, shot Francisco Reyes several times and then shot Fedencio Janas in the leg, according to police. Reyes died at the scene. Janas is recovering at an area hospital.

There were about 20 employees inside the warehouse at the time of the shooting, police said.

When police arrived Peralez was in the parking lot holding the gun and exchanged gunfire with police. She was wounded during the exchange and died at a local hospital. Officials are working to determine if she was killed by police or if she died from a self-inflicted wound.

Missouri City Police Chief Mike Berezin said during a press conference Monday morning that Peralez spoke with several people inside the warehouse before she open fired.

Police are talking with witnesses and trying to determine what led to the shooting.
