Legoland Announces New York Park's Opening Day

GOSHEN, NY — The newest Legoland in the United States has announced its opening day. Legoland New York Resort will hold its grand opening celebration July 4, 2020, park officials announced Wednesday.

“The Fourth of July means family,” said Matt Besterman, the park’s public relations manager, “and at Legoland theme parks, families can ride, climb, pay, learn and build together.”

At the same time, children can celebrate their independence by riding their first roller coaster — the Dragon — or driving their first car at Legoland Driving School, he said.

“We’re thrilled to invite families across the northeast, the country and the world to make our them park a tradition for summer fun,” Besterman said in a prepared statement.

Park officials said concrete is being poured and buildings are being built. Ride components, such as the track for the Dragon coaster, are arriving in Goshen.

Legoland New York Senior Divisional Director John Ussher said Lego models — more than 15,000 of them — are being shipped to the site from Merlin Magic Making workshops all over the world.

“This is truly a global effort, with thousands of people working together to build the ultimate Lego theme park destination here in the Hudson Valley,” he said.

There will be more than 50 rides, shows and attractions when the park opens on its 150 acres, officials said.

The theme park also announced its three tiers of annual passes are on sale starting at $119.99, along with single-day tickets starting at $62.99. All are available on the Legoland New York website.

Details about the grand opening celebrations will be announced next year.
