This year’s SummerSlam main event will see Brock Lesnar defend his Universal Championship in a Fatal 4-Way match which will also feature Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman, and Roman Reigns. It seemed as though no one knew who could possibly walk away victorious from this match. We have heard that the company was interested in putting the title on a full-time employee to help boost ratings, but we’ve also heard about Lesnar retaining the title. Now the speculation has intensified after the recent flood of rumors suggesting that Brock Lesnar could be jumping over to UFC soon. Who will win the Fatal 4-Way match at SummerSlam this year?
Current betting odds actually have Brock Lesnar favored to retain the Universal Championship in the match. That may seem surprising after hearing the recent stipulation that Lesnar would be leaving WWE if he lost the title, but it seems that there was a trick to the company adding that stipulation. The Dirty Sheets podcast recently claimed that the stipulation was merely created to make fans believe that Lesnar could lose the match and head back to UFC. The company has even been playing up the rumors on television as of late. Despite all of this though, the reported plan is indeed for Brock Lesnar to retain his title in the Fatal 4-Way match.
WWE adding the stipulation to fool the fans is a smart move on their part. While Lesnar could be retaining his title at SummerSlam, he is still rumored to be leaving WWE for good after Wrestlemania 34. Ideally, this would create the perfect scenario for Roman Reigns to dethrone Lesnar on “The Grandest Stage of Them All” before sending “The Beast” away. It definitely appears as though Brock is going to retain the title and remain with WWE for a couple more months, but we’ll see what happens during this month’s SummerSlam pay-per-view. SummerSlam takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, it will be airing on August 20th.
